Halos at Jays, first pitch 6:07 PM. Toronto opens as a clear home favorite at -158, and on paper the matchup tilts the same way: Dylan Cease (2-1, 3.05 ERA) versus Reid Detmers (1-2, 4.28 ERA) is not what you'd call a coin flip. But baseball doesn't care about paper, and right now the vibes are pointing in the visitor's direction.

The Angels are 15-23 but have won 3 of their last 5, including a wire-to-wire 8-2 beatdown of the White Sox where Walbert Ureña went 6 strong. Toronto is the opposite story — 4 straight losses, freshly shut out by the Rays on a 4-hit night. That's the kind of week where the home crowd shows up grumpy.

The one Jay you cannot pitch around is Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who's riding a 12-game hit streak and sitting on a .340 average — second in the AL. If Detmers wants to survive 5 innings at Rogers Centre, he's going to have to navigate Vlad with traffic on at some point. Cease, on the other hand, gets the gift of an Angels lineup missing Logan O'Hoppe and Anthony Rendon, with Travis d'Arnaud day-to-day on top of it.

The market reflects all of it. Toronto money line at -158 and the run line at -1.5 (-138 home favorite) are textbook 'better team, better starter, at home' pricing. EVs aren't kind on either side here — the spread sits at -2.4% both ways and the moneyline is worse, so this is a watch-don't-touch type of card unless you've got a strong read.

Total is 7.5 with the under juiced to -110, and that's where the narrative gets interesting. Cease has a 3.05 ERA, the Jays just got shut out, and the Angels' bullpen is missing both Ben Joyce and Robert Stephenson. You can talk yourself into either side. The cleanest call is just trusting Cease to do Cease things and letting Vlad and the home crowd handle the rest.
