On the mound — starting pitchers.

Monday night at Yankee Stadium, and the Blue Jays are bringing a rotation held together by duct tape. Berrios is getting his elbow cut open Wednesday. Scherzer is back to cortisone shots. Bieber and Francis are still on the 60-day. So here comes Patrick Corbin, the $1M April signing, somehow carrying a 3.93 ERA into the Bronx and arguably Toronto's most reliable starter right now.

Across from him: Ryan Weathers, who took a no-hitter into the 7th against Baltimore last week and has been running a sub-3.20 ERA in his Yankees stint. The Yankees as a staff lead the AL at 3.31. That's the matchup in one sentence — a journeyman lefty trying to keep pace with a guy who's been borderline unhittable for a month.

The market reflects all of it. New York is -195 at home, Toronto +177, and the Yanks are laying -1.5 with a near pick'em price on the runline. Pinnacle has the home side at 64.7% to win straight up. Nothing weird here — the better team, the better pitcher, the better lineup, in their park.

Don't sleep on how banged up the Yankees are too, though. Fried just hit the IL with a bone bruise. Cole is still on a rehab assignment in Scranton. Stanton's calf isn't close. Jasson Dominguez is swinging in a pool. Caballero's finger is keeping him out of the shortstop job he's slated to reclaim. The 28-19 record is being built without a real chunk of the projected roster.

Toronto at 21-25 has lost the plot a bit — 8-14 on the road and bouncing W-L every other night for two weeks. The path to stealing this one is Corbin doing his vintage soft-contact thing for 5+ and the bullpen not coughing it up late. Realistic? Sure. Likely? The number says no.
