Houston actually struck first, scratching out a run in the fourth that made it look like the kind of tight, low-stakes game September baseball turns into for a .500 club. Atlanta erased that and then some in the sixth, a four-run frame that flipped a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 lead — and it lined up almost exactly with the loudest stretch of the night in the game's Polymarket chat, 215 messages in five minutes as the room watched it happen live. "Astros don't do this to me," one poster wrote as it piled up on the Houston side of the room.
Houston got one back in the eighth to make it 4-2, with an Astros error mixed in along the way, but a single run was never going to answer a four-run frame. Atlanta finished with just 6 hits to Houston's 8 — the Braves won this one on the strength of one big inning rather than contact all night. Zoom out and this is a 92-64 Atlanta team still very much playing October baseball, doing it despite a pitching staff that's already lost three starters for the season and two more relievers to long-term injury. Houston, at 77-79 with Correa's comeback over before it started, is the mirror image — a club with little left to play for except pride, watching this series slip away to a team it's clearly still chasing.
