Dustin May had looked untouchable his last time out, six shutout innings against Cincinnati. None of that carried over Friday at Camden Yards. Pete Alonso answered Chourio's blast with a home run of his own in the 3rd, and from there both bullpens locked the game down — Milwaukee's relievers and Baltimore's middle relief traded scoreless innings for five straight frames while the score sat frozen at 3-3.

The game finally broke open in the 9th. Willy Contreras doubled home Brice Turang, then Christian Yelich singled Contreras in to make it 5-3 Milwaukee. Baltimore answered right back in the bottom half, with Samuel Basallo and Encarnacion-Strand each delivering a sacrifice fly to tie it at 5-5 and force extra innings — the second time in the game the Orioles had clawed back from a deficit.
