On the mound — starting pitchers.

Milwaukee sits atop the NL Central at 31-20 and runs out the hottest arm in the National League. St. Louis is 1.5 games back at 29-23 and counters with Michael McGreevy, who has quietly been doing ace things himself. On paper this is the best pitching matchup of the night. In practice, it might be the lowest-scoring one too.

Harrison has been borderline absurd. Nine starts, a 1.77 ERA, and per MLB.com he's the only NL pitcher running an ERA under 1.85 with a strikeout rate above 30%. His last time out he went 7 scoreless against the Cubs at Wrigley with 11 punchouts on 2 hits and a walk. The Brewers have won each of his last 6 starts. Oh, and this is his first career look at the Cardinals — so whatever scouting report St. Louis cooked up is theoretical.

McGreevy doesn't get the same buzz but the numbers don't lie. A 2.40 ERA with elite contact management, and per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Cardinals are 21-9 in his starts since his 2024 debut. The FIP crowd will tell you he's running hot — 4.03 underlying — but he keeps stranding runners and keeps winning games. The Cards needed someone to stabilize a rotation that lost depth this spring and McGreevy is it.

Recent form.

The Cardinals limp into this one a little banged up in the outfield. Nathan Church just landed on the 10-day IL, Lars Nootbaar is still chasing a June 1 target to come off the 60-day, and the bullpen depth got thinner with Packy Naughton headed for UCL surgery. Milwaukee has its own rotation question marks with Brandon Woodruff and Quinn Priester both on the shelf, but Harrison taking the ball every five days has made that a much smaller problem than it should be.

The market is doing exactly what you'd expect: Milwaukee is a heavy favorite at -172 on the moneyline with 83% of DK bets piling on the home side. The total sits at 7.5 and frankly feels generous given who's pitching. If you trust the EV numbers, there's no edge anywhere on this slate — Pinnacle and DK have this one priced cleanly. Sometimes the obvious read is the right one. Harrison shoves, McGreevy keeps it close, and the bullpens decide it late.
