Edward Cabrera (3-3, 4.99) is the guy tasked with stopping the bleeding, which is the kind of sentence that should make every Cubs fan reach for a drink. His last start was the 18-3 nuke job against the Giants in his return from the IL — 8 earned in 3.2 innings, three homers, including a Matt Chapman grand slam. Now he gets Coors. Across the way, Ryan Feltner (2-1, 4.22) is the steadiest arm in a Rockies rotation held together with tape, coming off 6 innings of 1-run, 1-hit ball against Milwaukee.
Chicago has lost 4 of 5 and the shape of those losses matters: a blowout, a 1-2 squeaker, the 7-3 series opener, and Tuesday's gut-punch walk-off where the Cubs led 2-0 going to the ninth. Craig Counsell's rotation is held together by Cabrera and prayers — Justin Steele and Cade Horton are on the 60-day, Jameson Taillon is out until after the break, and Matthew Boyd's rehab just hit a snag with shoulder soreness. There is no cavalry coming this week.

Colorado at 26-42 still looks like Colorado, but they've finally found a pulse at home and have flipped this series script entirely. Feltner has quietly been one of the few Rockies arms keeping leads attached to the scoreboard, and with Brenton Doyle, Jordan Beck and Mickey Moniak all still on the IL, getting any kind of starting pitching is the season.

The Cubs are favored on the moneyline at -142 and laying the run line at -1.5, which feels generous given how this series has actually played out on the field. Pinnacle has the total at 11.5 — modest for Coors, which tells you the market respects Feltner more than it fears Cabrera's blister-prone right arm. If you wanted a spot to fade Chicago, you'd be hard-pressed to find a cleaner one than a getaway game with a flammable starter at altitude.
