Zac Gallen (3-4, 4.80) gets the ball for Arizona against George Kirby (5-4, 3.54) at T-Mobile Park, first pitch 7:10 PM PT. Gallen's been trending up — he's won 2 straight after dropping his first 3 May starts — but he carries an 0-2, 9.00 ERA career line against Seattle into this one. Kirby, meanwhile, has lost back-to-back outings and gave up 9 hits over 6 innings in Kansas City last time out.
The Diamondbacks come in at 31-24 having won 5 straight and 14 of their last 18, including back-to-back sweeps of the Giants. Seattle isn't exactly limping into this either — the Mariners just swept the Athletics in West Sacramento and sit at 28-29, a half-game up on Oakland in the West. This is the first real test for both clubs in a couple weeks.

The injury column is where Arizona's run gets more impressive. Corbin Burnes is still on the 60-day with the elbow. Pavin Smith, Jordan Lawlar, Justin Martinez, A.J. Puk — all out. Nolan Arenado is day-to-day with a groin and was out of the lineup Wednesday. They've been winning shorthanded, which makes you wonder what the ceiling looks like when bodies come back.

- Day-To-DayNolan Arenado 3B — Arenado (groin) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Giants.
- Day-To-DayA.J. Vukovich CF — no

- 10-Day-ILLourdes Gurriel Jr. LF — Gurriel's hamstring injury is believed to be fairly minor, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports. Manager Torey Lovullo said Saturday the hope is Gurriel will be able to return from the injured list when first eligible.

- 10-Day-ILBrendan Donovan 3B — Mariners general manager Justin Hollander said Sunday that Donovan will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection for his strained left groin as well as his adductor and is expected to resume baseball activity in 2-to-3 weeks, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
- 10-Day-ILWill Wilson 3B — The Mariners placed Wilson on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a fractured left thumb.
- 60-Day-ILMiles Mastrobuoni 3B — Mastrobuoni (calf) began a rehab assignment Monday with the Mariners' Arizona Complex League affiliate, going 0-for-2 with a 1:1 K:BB.
- 60-Day-ILLogan Evans SP — The Mariners placed Evans (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Monday.
- 60-Day-ILCarlos Vargas RP — Vargas (lat) has suffered a setback in his recovery, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Seattle's dealing with their own list — Cal Raleigh is on the 10-day with an oblique and only just started light catch play this week, and Brendan Donovan got a PRP injection on his groin and adductor that puts him 2-to-3 weeks from baseball activity. Losing your All-Star catcher to start a 3-game set against the hottest team in the league is not the move, but the lineup has clearly figured something out without him.
Pinnacle has Seattle at -148 with the total parked at 7.5. That feels about right for a Kirby home start against a rotation that's been scuffling — but Gallen has quietly stabilized, and the D-backs are scoring at will. If you're betting it, the under at -129 against 2 starters who can both miss bats is the cleanest angle on the board. Otherwise, just enjoy a sneaky-good Friday night matchup.
