Merrill Kelly (5-3, 5.25) gets the ball for the Snakes opposite Bryce Miller (1-0, 2.25) at T-Mobile Park, first pitch 1:10 PM PT. Kelly's last time out was his cleanest of the year — 7 innings, 2 earned, 4 hits in a win at San Francisco — so the version Arizona needs is at least theoretically on the mound.
Miller is the bigger wild card. He missed the start of the season with a left oblique strain, made his 2026 debut on a seven-day routine, and last threw 5.2 innings of one-hit ball with 7 punchouts against the White Sox on May 19. That's a 12-day layoff coming into Sunday, which is workload management more than rust — but it's still a small sample to lean on against an Arenado-less Arizona lineup that just got blanked for most of Saturday.
Seattle is rolling. 5 straight wins, including a sweep of the Athletics and the first two of this set, the latter punctuated by Bryan Woo's 9-strikeout, 2-hit gem on Saturday. Four of Seattle's first five runs that night came on solo shots off Ryne Nelson. The bats are awake, the rotation is humming, and Cal Raleigh isn't even back from the oblique yet.

Arizona, on the other hand, is dealing with the kind of injury list that makes a manager's eye twitch. Arenado was a late scratch Saturday with a groin issue after fouling a ball off his leg Friday — his status for the finale is up in the air. Pavin Smith, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Carlos Santana, James McCann (4-6 weeks with a quad), Corbin Burnes, A.J. Puk — the list goes on. Rookie Jose Fernandez has been filling in at third.

- 60-Day-ILCarlos Vargas RP — Vargas (lat) has suffered a setback in his recovery, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
The market is priced about where you'd expect: Mariners -147 on the moneyline, total at 7.5 leaning under (-115 to the under, even money over). Pinnacle's fair line has Seattle at 58%. With Miller's pitch count likely capped and Arizona missing half a lineup, this one feels like it'll be decided by which bullpen blinks first — and right now Seattle's looks a whole lot sturdier.
