Yamamoto is the stabilizer. The 2.87 ERA tells the story of his year, though his last outing was the shortest of his season — five innings, four runs (three earned) against Miami, breaking an eight-start streak of going at least six. He should be motivated to reset that line in a building where the Dodgers have lost six of their last seven trips dating to 2023.
Houston counters with a bullpen day. Steven Okert opens, his first start of 2026, with Colton Gordon a candidate to follow as the bulk arm ahead of Peter Lambert's scheduled Tuesday start. The Astros are 14-21 and patching a rotation that's missing Hunter Brown, Cristian Javier, Ronel Blanco and Hayden Wesneski — but they've also won three of five and the lineup gets a soft target if Yamamoto isn't crisp.

The Dodgers' injury list reads like a roster page on its own: Mookie Betts still working back from the oblique, Blake Snell building up in Triple-A, Edwin Diaz, Brusdar Graterol, Tommy Edman, Evan Phillips — the bullpen depth in particular has been gutted. Houston's not much healthier behind Okert, with Josh Hader and Jeremy Pena both inching toward returns but not here yet.
Pick: a struggling LA offense versus a patchwork Houston staff is the kind of script that breaks the slump, and Yamamoto is the right guy to ride. But this Dodgers lineup hasn't shown up in a week, and Houston's record at home is exactly the trap-game profile that's bitten LA in this building before. Lean Dodgers, but don't bet the house.
