Adrian Houser (2-6, 5.54) gets the ball for the Giants opposite Grant Holmes (4-2, 4.05), and the gap between those lines is doing a lot of the work the betting market is already pricing in. Houser's last time out he was chased after 4.1 against Washington in a 6-3 loss. Holmes has been the steadier of the two and owns a 1.86 ERA in limited career work against San Francisco.
The bigger story in Atlanta is the rotation behind Holmes. Spencer Strider was shut down from throwing for 4 weeks after a consultation with Dr. Keith Meister revealed elbow inflammation, with no structural damage on the MRI. He's tentatively pointed at a follow-up scan in mid-July and a throwing progression around the All-Star break, which means the Braves are running it without him for the foreseeable future. AJ Smith-Shawver and Spencer Schwellenbach are also still working back. That's a lot of arms on the shelf for a first-place club.

The lineup is dinged up too. Ronald Acuna Jr. is parked with left hamstring tightness, Sean Murphy is in a splint with a broken finger, and Jurickson Profar is gone for the year on the PED suspension. Matt Olson (20 HR, 19 doubles, .270) has been carrying the offensive load, and Atlanta is going to need him to keep doing it through this stretch where the bats have gone quiet — they were just shut out in a tie game by the White Sox and dropped a series to the Mets at home.
San Francisco is not exactly walking in hot either. The Giants are 15-23 on the road, just dropped 2 of 3 to the Cubs, and the injury list is a small phone book — Heliot Ramos, Harrison Bader, Tyler Mahle, Jason Foley, plus a bullpen that has lost Hayden Birdsong, Randy Rodriguez and Keaton Winn to various elbow and arm issues. Casey Schmitt's 15 homers and .510 slug have been one of the few genuinely fun storylines.

The market sees a clear favorite at home and a total that's gotten noticeably heavier toward the Under since the lines opened. Two starters who haven't gone deep in their last outings, a Braves offense that's pressing, and Houser's habit of getting punched in the third time through the order — there's a reasonable case for a low-scoring grind even if the Braves end up taking it.
