Los Angeles snapped a 4-game losing streak Tuesday — a skid ugly enough that all 4 losses came by 4+ runs, something the franchise hadn't done since the Brooklyn days in 1936. Shohei Ohtani took the mound and stopped the bleeding. Thursday is the series finale of a 4-game rivalry set, and the Giants would love nothing more than to fly home with a split (or better) after dropping a 9-3 hammer on L.A. on Monday.

Landen Roupp has been the steady hand the Giants needed once Logan Webb hit the IL with knee bursitis. A 3.09 ERA and a 5-3 record at this point in the season is real, and he gets a Dodgers lineup that's been pressing for weeks. Emmet Sheehan counters at 4.79 — serviceable, but not the kind of number that scares a Giants offense that just hung 9 on this team a few nights ago.

The injury sheet is doing a lot of heavy lifting here, particularly for the home side. The Dodgers are running without Tyler Glasnow, Gavin Stone, Bobby Miller, Evan Phillips, Brusdar Graterol and Edwin Diaz, among others — a rotation and bullpen held together with duct tape. San Francisco isn't exactly whole either, with Webb sidelined and the bullpen thinned out by a parade of UCLs and shoulders, but the depth chart damage on this card tilts toward L.A.

The market still loves the Dodgers despite the slump. Pinnacle has them at -169 with a 61.2% fair win probability; DraftKings is even steeper at -251. That's the public chasing the name on the front of the jersey rather than the body of work over the last 20 games. Neither side of this number prices out as a +EV play, and the total has the books split — Pinnacle at 8.5, DK at 7.5.

This is the kind of game where the Giants can quietly walk out of Los Angeles with a series win if Roupp does Roupp things and the bullpen behind him doesn't unravel. The Dodgers needed Ohtani to remind them they're the Dodgers. One night doesn't unbreak three weeks of bad baseball.
