Phillies and Brewers have spent two days trading haymakers — a 6-0 Milwaukee shutout Friday behind Jacob Misiorowski's complete game, then a 17-hit, 9-8 Phillies survival job Saturday. Now it's the rubber match at 1:10 PM CT with two southpaws on the mound who could not be coming from more different places.
Cristopher Sánchez is 8-2 with a 1.54 ERA and just punched out 10 Blue Jays over 7 innings of two-run ball last time out. Kyle Harrison is 7-1 with a 2.72, but his line is hiding a disaster: 8 earned, 8 hits, 3 homers in 2.1 innings against the Athletics on June 8, after not allowing more than 2 runs in any of his first 11 starts. Whichever Harrison shows up dictates this one.
Milwaukee's still 42-26 and atop the division, but the bullpen is showing wear from a string of slugfests, and the rotation is held together by tape — Brandon Woodruff, Quinn Priester, Coleman Crow, and Logan Henderson are all on the IL. The Phillies just hung 9 on that group Saturday and have Schwarber, Harper, Realmuto, and Stott all swinging it.

Philadelphia comes in at 38-32 and has won 3 of 5 against tough competition. They're without Adolis García (60-day IL, shoulder) and Johan Rojas (out for the year, UCL), so the outfield depth is thin, but Steward Berroa was just recalled from Triple-A and slots into right. Carson DeMartini is day-to-day at short.

Stakes-wise, this is the kind of June Sunday that doesn't move standings much but tells you something. Sánchez has been the best left-handed starter in baseball this season. If Milwaukee can get to him, the Brewers send a message that they're built to handle anyone in October. If he goes 7 and the Phillies steal the series, Philadelphia's loudly back in the NL pecking order with the All-Star break coming into view.
