Friday was about as bad as it gets for Texas. Jacob deGrom tied his career high with 8 earned runs allowed over 4 innings, and the Rangers managed 4 hits off Ryan, who went 6 innings with 8 strikeouts. Luke Keaschall went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple and 3 RBIs, and Kody Clemens hit his team-leading 27th homer. The final was 10-2, and it felt worse than that.
The scary part for Texas is the offense. The Rangers have scored 3 runs or fewer in each of their last 5 games, winning 1 of them, and now they're missing a regular bat on top of that. Houston holds the tiebreaker in the division race, so the Rangers need to win games, not just keep them close. Minnesota has taken 2 of 3 from San Francisco, won 3 straight, and seems happy to ruin somebody's September.

The Texas bullpen is already missing Michel Otanez, Cal Quantrill, Cole Winn and Jalen Beeks, so if Eovaldi can't give them length, it's a long afternoon.
