Tampa Bay shows up at 27-13, the second-best record in baseball behind only Atlanta, and they've already swept the season series 4-0. They've won 13 of their last 15. This is not a team you want to see when your rotation is held together by duct tape and Patrick Corbin.

Shane McClanahan is the headline. He's 4-2 with a 2.60 ERA and his last time out — on May 6 against this same Blue Jays lineup — he went 5.2 innings of two-hit shutout ball in a 3-0 Tampa win. Going back further, he's now strung together scoreless outings against the Twins, Giants and Jays after that one bad April night in Pittsburgh. The Jays already failed to touch him six days ago. Nothing about their offense suggests the second try goes better.

Toronto sends out Patrick Corbin, who has quietly been the rotation's early-season saving grace at 1-1 with a 3.60. That's a sentence I didn't expect to type in 2026, but here we are. The bigger issue isn't Corbin — it's everything behind him. Max Scherzer is getting a cortisone shot for the thumb. Jose Berrios' MRI showed more elbow inflammation. Shane Bieber is still working back. Bowden Francis is on the 60-day. The cupboard is bare.

On the Tampa side, Chandler Simpson is day-to-day but went 1-for-4 with a double, walk and stolen base in Tuesday's 1-0 win over Cleveland, so don't be shocked to see him in the lineup. Gavin Lux is tracking toward a return this weekend in Boston. The rotation took a real hit with Ryan Pepiot heading for season-ending hip surgery on May 13, but with McClanahan rolling, the Rays can stomach it for a night.

The market has Tampa around -120 with a total of 8 at Pinnacle and 7 at DraftKings — a meaningful split that tells you sharps and the book aren't quite aligned on how the runs play. None of the sides grade out with positive EV here, so this is a game to watch, not necessarily one to fire on. Just expect the lefty to make Toronto's banged-up lineup look short on answers again.
