None of that shows up in the win totals yet, but it's the kind of thing that tends to matter more the deeper a series goes — especially one squeezed into four games in three days.
The bigger story in Boston is who's running the show. Chad Tracy took over as interim manager in late April after the Red Sox fired Alex Cora, and the club has been the better team in baseball behind him since — enough that Tracy's now in the mix for a Manager of the Year award most people didn't see coming in April.
He's done it despite a rotation that's basically been dismantled. Garrett Crochet, Tanner Houck, Johan Oviedo and Kutter Crawford are all on extended injured-list stints, which is a big part of why Suarez — signed as a free agent over the winter — has turned into the most important arm on the staff by default.
