TLDR: A split, going-nowhere series had one more twist left in it, and Sunday's finale at Angel Stadium turned into a laugher as Minnesota walked out with a shutout.

Dean Kremer took the ball looking to build on a start against the Yankees where he'd worked 5.2 innings and allowed just 1 earned run, and Ryan Johnson came in off a win over Seattle in which he struck out 7 without a walk. Both arms had reasons for optimism heading into the 1:07 PM PT first pitch.

Minnesota shut out the Angels 8-0 behind a 13-hit attack, evening a series the Angels had led 2-1 entering the finale. Ryan Johnson's hot stretch since August didn't carry over, and a thinned Angels lineup finished with 2 hits and an error against a Twins group also missing three regulars.

The Angels were similarly picked over — Nolan Schanuel, Yoan Moncada and Anthony Rendon are all out for the year — but it was L.A.'s order that went cold, finishing with 2 hits and an error.

The Polymarket chat room lit up as the Angels' deficit piled up, with the busiest 5-minute stretch of the day coming right as Minnesota's 2-run second inning got going.
