Noah Schultz (2-4, 5.82 ERA) makes his return to the White Sox rotation at Camden Yards — his first MLB start since May 24, when right patellar tendinitis eventually put him on the IL. He closed out his rehab Sunday with 7 strikeouts over 4.2 innings at Triple-A Charlotte and is expected to be on a reasonable pitch count in his first time back. Baltimore counters with Dean Kremer (0-1, 4.09), who started 2026 at Norfolk before being recalled in April when Zach Eflin blew out his elbow. Wednesday is just Kremer's 2nd MLB start of the season — his first was a 6-inning, 3-run outing against Cleveland on April 18.
The White Sox came in and handled Baltimore in a hurry. Game 1 went 8-2 with Jacob Gonzalez driving in 3. Game 2 turned in the third inning — Colson Montgomery and Junior Perez both went yard during a 7-run frame — and Chicago walked out of Camden Yards with a 9-3 win and the series already clinched. That road series win was Chicago's first since May. At 45-39 and sitting atop the AL Central, the White Sox are one of the real stories in the American League this year. Baltimore is 39-48 and has now lost 4 straight.

The Orioles' rotation was supposed to be fixed this winter. They brought in Bassitt on a big deal and traded for Shane Baz. Instead, Eflin is done for the year after Tommy John surgery, Bassitt just had bone spurs removed from his back and is sitting on the 15-day IL, and the arms Baltimore has been running out there have given up 17 runs in 2 games to a White Sox lineup that doesn't even have Murakami (hamstring, 10-day IL) or Austin Hays (60-day IL, calf) healthy. Kremer's 4.09 ERA looks fine on paper. He hasn't faced a lineup this hot in 2026.

Schultz's ERA before the IL stint was 5.82, and there's legitimate rust to account for — 5-plus weeks away from big-league competition is not nothing. If he comes out shaky in the first couple innings, this game can tighten up. But Baltimore is also missing Jordan Westburg (Tommy John, done for the year) and Ryan Mountcastle (60-day IL, foot), and a short-handed lineup that's scored 5 runs combined in 2 games doesn't have a lot of room to exploit a starter having a rough go. The White Sox go for the sweep at 12:35 PM ET.
