The schedule matters as much as the injury list. Orlando finishes a 2-game trip to Toronto and then hosts Boston on Sunday, November 1, so the Wizards get the Magic on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. Washington's last game before this was Friday at home, which gives it 2 days off. There is no betting line yet, and with Orlando still having 2 games to play first, it is too early for one. The Boston game will show how much the Magic have left when they tip off at 7:30 PM ET on Monday.
The Wizards are 3-3 and have looked like 2 different teams. They have given up 110 or more in all 3 losses, then held Charlotte to 79 in the rematch, breaking it open with a 28-13 3rd quarter. Orlando's 4 games through Wednesday have been worse. The Magic gave up 132 at home to Atlanta, scored 93 against Minnesota, and lost by 30 in Toronto. The only bright spot was a win at Madison Square Garden the night after the Banchero news came out, which suggests this group can still compete when the defense holds up.
This game will be decided by who can create offense for Orlando. Without Banchero and Suggs, the Magic need someone else to run the half-court, and against Toronto nobody did. If Washington plays defense like it did in the Charlotte rematch, a tired home team could fall behind early. If the Wizards defend like they did in the 3 losses, Orlando's depth problems won't matter as much and the Knicks win will look less like a fluke.
