The Packers' 2-2 doesn't look much better up close. They lost by 17 at Minnesota and by 21 at home to Atlanta. The 2 wins came by 3 points apiece over the Jets and a winless Tampa team, and they nearly blew the second one with a fumble near the goal line and a Love interception in the final 5 minutes. On the other hand, the defense that's now short-handed forced the early takeaways that built the lead in Tampa. Evan Williams and Cooper each had an interception before Cooper went down.
Chicago's season has swung hard both ways. The Bears opened by hanging 59 on Carolina, then managed 3 points at home against Minnesota, then beat the Eagles 27-7 and the Jets in back-to-back weeks. Both teams lost to the Vikings, and the Bears made a 9-point Minnesota effort hold up as a win for the other side. The Chicago defense has been doing real work. Dillon Thieneman picked off Philadelphia, and opponents have scored 7 and 12 the last 2 weeks. That's with a thin interior: Jayden Loving and James Lynch were both inactive against the Jets, and Shemar Turner is still working back through his practice window.
Look at the offensive lines before kickoff. Green Bay played Tampa without Kevin Zeitler, Aaron Banks and Jacob Monk, and Chris Brooks left with an ankle injury, so the run game was patchwork. Chicago lost left tackle Braxton Jones to IR and played without Ozzy Trapilo. The early forecast at Lambeau calls for mid-70s and clouds with wind in the mid-teens, which favors whichever team can run it. Last week, that was clearly the Bears.
