Miami's defense, already down Ronnie Harrison Jr. and Chop Robinson before kickoff, had nothing for it. Malik Willis and the Dolphins offense managed 6 points in the second quarter and nothing else until a garbage-time score in the 4th, extending a losing streak that now sits at 6 straight dating back to last season.
The third quarter was the whole game. San Francisco outscored Miami 21-0 in that stretch alone, turning a competitive scoreline into a laugher and validating every part of the board that treated this as close to a formality before the ball was even snapped.
Miami's front seven took another hit during the game itself — Robert Beal Jr. (hamstring) and Jaylen Wright (neck) both went down questionable to return, thinning a unit that had already lost 2 linebackers to injured reserve this week. San Francisco, by contrast, got its green light on George Kittle for nothing and the health scares it did carry — Eddy Pineiro, Kaelon Black — never factored into the outcome.
There's no silver lining to squint for here. Miami is 0-2 with a defense that's bleeding bodies and an offense that scored 13 total points against a 49ers team that didn't need its ceiling. San Francisco moves to 2-0, unbeaten and now with a signature blowout to show for its home opener.
