The bigger thing to watch in Tampa is the crease depth. Dennis Hildeby missed the Rangers game with an undisclosed ailment and is still listed out, so the Lightning recalled Mads Søgaard from AHL Syracuse to back up Andrei Vasilevskiy. Hildeby had been good when he played, stopping 34 of 36 in the win over Minnesota. Søgaard has a .877 save percentage over 31 career NHL games. If Hildeby isn't back, Vasilevskiy is carrying the load with an unproven backup behind him.
Seattle's blue line is thinner than the record suggests. Ryan Lindgren went on injured reserve with an upper-body injury and is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks. That takes a physical, defensive-minded defenseman away from the group right before it faces Kucherov and Guentzel. Jacob Melanson is out indefinitely with a serious upper-body diagnosis, and Jake O'Brien is on non-roster IR. Seattle's scoring has covered all of that so far. The 6-2 home loss to Vegas showed what a good team can do to this lineup when the Kraken aren't scoring.
Puck drop is 7:00 PM ET at Benchmark International Arena. Tampa Bay has handled its home building so far, beating Washington, Philadelphia and Minnesota there and allowing 4 goals total across the 3 games. Seattle arrives on the 4th straight road game of the trip, and it has also needed the 3rd period and a shootout to beat a Flyers team that still hasn't won. The question is whether the Kraken's offense can solve a structured Lightning team in its own rink, or whether Tampa's stars bounce back the way they usually do after a quiet night.
