White Sox Dave goes 5-0 as Sox take ALDS Game 1

TLDR: White Sox Dave watched from Cork & Kerry in Bridgeport as Munetaka Murakami's 2-run homer carried the Sox to a 3-0 Game 1 win in Cleveland, which put his week at 5-0 with the Bears up next.

The ALDS opener was in Cleveland. White Sox Dave stayed in Bridgeport, at Cork & Kerry, and he was talking big before the first pitch.

Here at Cork and Kerry in Bridgeport continuing on the greatest run of sports magic in the last 2 decades Sox about to put a beating on messick

Calling it the greatest run of sports magic in 20 years is a lot. It also isn't much more than the Sox have earned lately. They came out of the Wild Card round for a best-of-5 against a Cleveland team that most smart money liked more. Not every preview gave the Sox staff much of a chance, either.

“The White Sox pitching has collapsed here a little bit down the stretch, really go back to August.”

So much for that. Game 1 was a shutout. Grant Taylor threw 4 scoreless innings in relief with 6 strikeouts and 2 hits allowed, and Cleveland never scored. The Sox didn't need much offense, and in the 4th Murakami took Messick deep, which made Dave's pregame call look a lot smarter.

I AM JAPANESEEEEEEEEEEEEE

It wasn't a cheap one. The ball went 440 feet at 112.2 mph, the hardest-hit ball of the postseason so far, and it was Murakami's first career playoff homer. Dave grabbed the Japanese broadcast's call of it and went full fanboy, which is about the only reasonable response.

The Sox finished it off 3-0. By then the bar had turned into a full Soxtober party, and Dave had a message for OhioTate, a buddy who missed all of it because he's off getting married. Eddie had the camera rolling, and he did the math: 5-0 on the week.

White Sox win Game 1 of the ALDS Whitesoxdave tells @OhioTate that he’s coming for that ass He improves to 5-0 on the week with the Bears tomorrow to go perfect @barstoolWSD

That brings us to Sunday. Earlier in the day Eddie said Dave was chasing a perfect 6-0 week, the Bears win over the Eagles plus the Sox run so far. Dave told him it would be the best sports week of his life outside of the 2005 World Series. He's calling it a huge adrenaline dump week, and that's fair. The Bears are the last leg. If they win, he's perfect. Then Game 2 of the ALDS is right after that.
