Mintzy scammed out of $400 for White Sox tickets

TLDR: Mintzy's $400 bet on 8 cheap White Sox playoff tickets from a guy with a hookup appears to have gone bad, and White Sox Dave is now saying he thinks foul play was involved.
The latest update came during Barstool's Sunday NFL watch stream, and Dave didn't hold back on the replay.
Here's how it started. Ben Mintz was trying to get into the White Sox's division series against Cleveland. Dave wrote on the blog that the seller was someone Mintz met on a train to Milwaukee, a guy who said he had ticket connections in Chicago and Milwaukee. Mintz sent $400. Dave and Tate held off to see whether the deal came through and bought real tickets as a backup.
“If it seems like the deal's too good to be true, it might be, but for $400, for eight tickets in the 100 level, I'm willing to get hustled.” – Mintzy
Dave wasn't pretending it was clean, either. His own blog called the whole thing fishy and said there was a real chance Mintz was getting scammed, then argued the $400 was still worth the risk. He also put a backstop on it: he promised to pay Mintz back if the tickets didn't show up before the game, using his earnings from a stock bet.
“I've been scammed before in life and people are always radio silent when you're getting scammed. And this dude's texting me a ton.” – Mintzy
That was Mintzy on VIVA TV on October 9, when he still hadn't been paid back. In the same segment he said the seller had to back out of the 8 seats, called the refund 'still all in the works,' and put his own odds of getting into the stadium at about 70-75%. The logic was simple: scammers go quiet, and this guy kept texting. That reasoning has not aged well.
Now it's a bit, and it's a good one. A guy who's been scammed before ignored the 'too good to be true' rule he said out loud himself, and Dave went from calling it fishy to suspecting foul play. The obvious next question is whether Dave's IOU gets paid, and whether that stock money actually makes Mintzy whole. Expect the Cave to keep asking about it on air until somebody hands over $400.
