Barstool wants Justin Herbert benched vs. Chiefs

TLDR: The 0-5 Chargers fell behind 9-3 at Arrowhead, and as Justin Herbert's mistakes piled up, Marty Mush said they should sit him and Jack Kennedy wants a 2027 factory reset.
The 2nd quarter in Kansas City started with Herbert getting bailed out by a flag. It didn't last.
That penalty erased an interception, and Barstool's joke was that it only cancelled the pick Herbert was going to throw that week anyway. It lands because it's barely an exaggeration. Herbert came into Sunday after a home loss to Denver where he threw for 121 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception, and that pick came late and handed the Broncos the ball near the red zone. Jim Harbaugh took the blame for that one. Nobody's lining up to take the blame for this one.
A few minutes later the Chiefs defense had the ball again and was running it back the other way, with another flag on the field and the internet already off to the Madison Beer jokes. Same clip, same reaction everywhere: Herbert looks like he's seeing ghosts. That's when the bench talk started for real.
Benching a franchise quarterback in Week 7 is a big swing, but Marty wasn't the only one taking it. Jack Kennedy had spent the afternoon rooting for an AFC West blowout so ownership would finally do something, and once the turnovers kept coming he went one step further.
To be fair to Herbert, the case for going easy on him isn't nothing. After the Denver loss Herbert said, "We gotta do whatever we can to win football games and make plays and do what we can to score points, and we haven't been doing that." The Chargers went into this season with real expectations and they still have zero wins. A team that can't punch it in from the 1, which Dave Portnoy was already ripping in September, has bigger problems than 1 guy. But the quarterback is the face of all of it, and right now the face keeps handing the ball to the other team.
Mahomes giving one back in the end zone is the only reason this one was still a 1-score game midway through the 2nd. Barstool's line was that he was doing a Herbert impression. If you're a Chargers fan, that's what the season comes down to: your best break of the half was the other quarterback playing like yours. Whether Harbaugh actually looks at the bench is the thing to watch. Even if he doesn't, it's bad when the people calling for it are this loud and the scorebug says 0-5.
