Celtics Fans Melt Down Over Jaylen Brown-Paul George Swap

Boston shipped its Finals MVP to Philly for Paul George, and the reaction from Barstool's Celtics diehards was instant and loud.

The Celtics traded Jaylen Brown to the 76ers for Paul George, and the fallout started before anyone had time to process it. This is the same Jaylen Brown who was just handing out Finals MVP hardware, now heading to Philadelphia in a deal that has Boston's fanbase split between confusion and outright fury.

That kind of gut-punch mood was everywhere. Dave Portnoy was mid-book-tour when the news broke and couldn't let it slide, firing up an Emergency Press Conference from what looked like a hotel room to give his unfiltered take on the swap.

Portnoy wasn't alone in wondering if this was even a basketball-first move — Pat straight up asked if the trade was really about clearing Paul George's contract rather than upgrading the roster. Meanwhile Brad Stevens, long treated as untouchable in Boston circles, suddenly found himself the target of jokes and threats of hate-tweets from his own fanbase, with KFC needling the idea that Stevens was supposed to be the guy who could "turn this into gold."

Not everyone was buried in doom. Jason 'White Chocolate' Williams hopped on camera from, of all places, a golf cart, to rip into the front office with zero hesitation.

There was also pushback against the pushback — some Celtics fans immediately went into spin mode, insisting Brown was replaceable or that role players could fill the void, takes that got mocked as delusional in real time. Whether Boston's front office is playing four-dimensional chess or just torching a championship core, the fanbase is going to be litigating this one for a while.
