Chris Klemmer has built a whole persona around knowing baseball history cold. Stats, trivia, old-timer lore, he's your guy. Turns out there's one glaring hole in that resume: the man genuinely cannot tell you which side of the plate a hitter stands on, and it took roughly one segment for the entire internet to find out.

The clip is exactly what it sounds like. Klemmer, put on the spot, tries to defend himself for not knowing his left from his right, and the segment turns into a full-blown roast in real time. It's the kind of self-inflicted bit that writes itself once it's out there, and Sports Central knew it, following up almost immediately by asking the obvious next question: which side of the plate did Barry Bonds and Babe Ruth actually hit from.
For the record, both of them batted left-handed, two of the most feared lefty swings the sport has ever produced. That's not exactly a deep-cut trivia answer, either. It's the kind of thing a self-described baseball savant should know on reflex, which is precisely why the mix-up landed as hard as it did.
Fans piled on fast, and not just with the obvious jabs. Stoolies Clubhouse went for the historical angle, pointing out that everybody remembers the most famous moment of Ruth's whole career involved him pointing to a specific field before hitting a home run there.

Klemmer's not exactly backing down from it, either. In a follow-up clip, he's at his desk making the case that he'd rather have deep baseball trivia knowledge than basic left-right orientation, which is a defense that only makes the bit funnier.
