Dak Prescott's bold 'GOTI' claim puts Cowboys offense on the clock

Dak Prescott isn't shy about setting the bar high heading into 2026. According to Barstool Sports, the Cowboys quarterback has started calling his own offense "GOTI" -- short for Greatest Offense There Is -- and reportedly got the skill guys in the building to buy in during offseason workouts.

It's not just talk for the sake of talk. Prescott threw for over 4,000 yards last season, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens both cleared 1,000 receiving yards, and Javonte Williams topped 1,000 on the ground -- a full-spectrum offense that finished 2nd in yards per game and 7th in scoring under first-year playcaller Brian Schottenheimer. Tyler Smith made First-Team All-Pro up front and rookie Tyler Booker made the All-Rookie team. That's the receipts behind the swagger, and it's why GOTI isn't landing as pure delusion.

Barstool's Jon Gruden bit into the offensive side of the ledger with a genuine compliment, saying flat out he loves watching Prescott play quarterback while breaking down Cowboys stats on the whiteboard.

I love watching Dak Prescott play quarterback.

But GOTI is an offense-only nickname for a reason -- the other side of the ball is where the real questions live. Gruden turned right around and put the defense on blast, running through takeaways and bad angles on a whiteboard labeled "COWBOYS DEFENSE" while making the case that Dallas can't just outscore its way to a division title.

The Cowboys defense needs to improve in a BIG way for Dallas to compete for the division title this season!

So the Cowboys enter camp with a legitimately loaded, self-anointed offense and a defense that still has to answer for last year's warts. Prescott's bet is that the offense can carry Dallas regardless -- and with the same core group back plus a full year of Schottenheimer's system, that's not a crazy bet to make. Whether GOTI ages like a bold prediction or a punchline probably comes down to whether that defense can just be respectable enough to not squander it.
