Eagles camp got a jolt when DeVonta Smith and rookie Makai Lemon both went missing from practice with hamstring injuries, and for a receiving corps that just watched A.J. Brown get shipped to New England, that's not a headline anyone in Philly wanted to see.

Smith is no longer just the 1B option in that room, he's the guy now. With Brown gone, DeVonta Smith heads into 2026 as Jalen Hurts' clear top target, so any absence from him carries more weight than it would have a year ago. Reporting has the injuries traced back to an indoor practice session, and the Eagles reportedly aren't sounding the alarm internally, but soft-tissue injuries have a way of lingering if teams push too fast.
Lemon's case stings a little differently. The rookie, drafted 20th overall out of USC this year, was brought in partly to help fill the void Brown's exit left behind, and he'd reportedly been working with the first-team offense before this setback. He's also no stranger to hamstring trouble, having already dealt with the issue during OTAs and mandatory minicamp back in the spring.
Makai Lemon being injured through OTAs and training camp is a HUGE bummer
That frustration tracks. Lemon missing time yet again, after already sitting out OTAs and minicamp with the same injury, is exactly the kind of pattern that makes fantasy managers and Eagles fans alike a little nervous, even if nobody's calling it serious yet.
For now both guys are reportedly considered week-to-week rather than facing any real long-term concern, and the Eagles have a track record of being cautious with soft-tissue stuff rather than reckless. Still, with a receiver room this thin behind Smith and Lemon, every practice snap either of them misses matters a little more than it would elsewhere. Worth watching how fast Philly eases them back in as camp rolls on.
