DJ Moore, Keon Coleman both go down hurt vs. Lions

TLDR: Bills WR DJ Moore was taken for X-rays after landing hard on his shoulder against Detroit, then Keon Coleman went down too, and Buffalo's receiver room got thin fast.

Buffalo's offense hit a scary stretch on Thursday night against the Lions when DJ Moore went down hard in the end zone and didn't get up right away. Josh Allen jogged over to check on him before Moore made it to his feet and walked off with trainers, never a great sign this early in a game.

It got worse from there. Jay Skurski reported Moore went straight to the locker room, and Ian Rapoport followed with the fuller picture: Moore was headed for X-rays after landing hard on his shoulder, officially questionable to return with a shoulder injury and a stinger.

#Bills WR DJ Moore, who landed hard on his shoulder, is questionable to return with a shoulder injury and a stinger. He was taken into the locker room for X-rays.

That's a brutal spot for Buffalo, especially against a Lions defense, with Moore fresh off a big Bills debut — he'd already topped 100 yards on the night before the injury. Moore landed in Buffalo via a trade from Chicago back in March, carrying over the 4-year, $110 million extension he originally signed with the Bears, and the Bills have leaned on him as their No. 1 target from day one.

Then, just minutes later, it happened again, this time to Keon Coleman. Albert Breer summed up the vibe on Buffalo's sideline: Ed Oliver was already out for the night, and now the Bills were staring at a receiver room without both Moore and Coleman at once.

And now Keon Coleman’s hurt. Sheesh. Bills already lost Ed Oliver and DJ Moore tonight.

Coleman had his right foot and ankle taped up on the sideline while trainers looked him over, and for a few minutes it looked like Buffalo might be down to the bare bones at receiver against a good Lions team.

The good news: Coleman shook it off and got back onto the field, which Skurski noted was a real break for an offense already missing Moore.

Moore's night, though, is still very much in question. A stinger and a trip for X-rays isn't the kind of thing that just gets taped up and forgotten, and Buffalo's offense, built around Moore and Coleman as its top two options, doesn't have a great answer if either one is out for an extended stretch. Expect updates on Moore's status to dominate the postgame conversation no matter what the final score looks like.
