Frank The Tank Brings Notre Dame's Captains Full Circle

Frank the Tank walked Notre Dame captains Drayk Bowen and Adon Shuler through the NYC office, closing the loop on a jersey moment from 3 years back.

Frank Walks has become one of Barstool's most oddly beloved franchises, a guy in a Notre Dame shirt strolling around with athletes, coaches and comedians while the mics roll. On Wednesday the show got its most full-circle guests yet: Notre Dame's returning defensive captains, linebacker Drayk Bowen and safety Adon Shuler, stopped by the NYC office to take a lap with Frank himself.

The two Irish captains rolled through the office for their sitdown-and-stroll with Frank.

Before the walk even started, Frank filmed his intro holding up a green No. 3 jersey, the kind of prop that only means something if you already know the backstory. Whoever shot the clip called it smooth, though the footage of Frank sizing up the jersey in front of the Barstool backdrop reads more like a guy carefully building suspense for a bit than an actual flawless take.

That's where the 3-years-later gag comes in. A side-by-side floating around shows the same green No. 3 jersey from a moment back in the day next to Frank now, the joke being how much has changed since Barstool first crossed paths with Notre Dame gear like that. It's a callback bit more than breaking news, but it's the kind of continuity that makes Frank Walks feel like a running bit instead of a one-off.

The bigger deal is who Frank landed for the walk. Bowen and Shuler aren't just any Irish players — both were named captains ahead of the 2025 season and are back in that role for 2026, with Bowen coming off a team-leading tackle season and working back from offseason hip surgery this spring, and Shuler anchoring the back end as one of the defense's veteran leaders. Getting both captains into a New York studio in the middle of the offseason is the kind of access Frank Walks has quietly built a reputation for, following past guests like head coach Marcus Freeman.

None of it is groundbreaking football news, but that's not really the point of the show. It's Barstool leaning into its Notre Dame ties and Frank's own unlikely rise from superfan to recurring interview host, with two of the program's top defenders playing along for the bit. With Bowen and Shuler leading a defense that'll be counted on to carry Notre Dame into another playoff push, expect this clip to get more mileage once the season actually kicks off.
