For context on who Jeff Ulbrich is: this is a guy who's spent his whole adult life in football buildings. He played linebacker at Hawaii, got drafted by the 49ers in the 3rd round back in 2000, and ground out a decade in San Francisco before retiring due to concussion issues. He's been coaching ever since — Seahawks special teams, UCLA linebackers, then back to Atlanta as a position coach starting in 2015. He left to become the Jets' defensive coordinator in 2021, got thrown into the fire as their interim head coach in 2024 after Robert Saleh was fired, and came back to Atlanta this January to run the Falcons' defense.
