KC Concepcion ruled out after Minkah Fitzpatrick hit

TLDR: Browns rookie receiver KC Concepcion is out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Jets with a head injury after a helmet-to-helmet hit from Minkah Fitzpatrick late in the 1st quarter.
Cleveland wasted no time on this one. The Browns ruled Concepcion out right away, and the beat writers had it within minutes.

The play was ugly. Cleveland was driving on its 2nd possession, first-and-10 from the Jets 25, when Deshaun Watson went deep to Concepcion. He looked like he had it, and then Fitzpatrick arrived helmet-first. The ball came loose, and Concepcion went face down on the turf and didn't move while the Browns' training staff ran out to him. Fitzpatrick was flagged for the hit. The good news, and right now it's the only good news, is that Concepcion eventually walked to the locker room on his own.
There was no slow drip of questionable, then doubtful, then out. The team called it immediately, and the national guys had it within a few minutes.

Concepcion isn't just another body in the receiver room. The Browns took him 24th overall out of Texas A&M in April, with a pick they got from the trade that sent the No. 2 pick in the 2025 draft to Jacksonville. He came in as the vertical threat this offense has badly needed, and Cleveland had to play most of an afternoon without him because of one hit.
Cleveland did get on the board after the injury, but losing a pass catcher this early forces the offense to change its plans on the fly.

Next comes the concussion protocol, which doesn't come with a set date. Every case is different, and how a rookie feels this week means a lot less than whether he can clear each step. Keep an eye on Fitzpatrick too. A helmet-to-helmet hit on a defenseless receiver that has already drawn a flag is exactly the kind of play the league reviews for a fine. For now, Cleveland plays the rest of this one a receiver short, and everyone's hoping a promising rookie doesn't miss much time over one bad collision.
