LeBron James Name-Drops Barstool's Fasoli

Of all the people LeBron James could namecheck during his YouTube golf era, nobody had Fasoli on the bingo card. Then a clip landed Thursday afternoon and the Barstool timeline went off. It's a group lunch at a covered patio restaurant, guys in golf caps and polos around a long table, a camera crew filming, and a subtitle on screen: 'WAS FASOLI ON CAMERA THIS YEAR?' Barstool's own accounts ran with it as LeBron asking about Fasoli. Nobody at the table can be picked out for sure from the frames. Barstool says it was him, and nobody at the company is interested in fact-checking that.

FASOLI!

It's not a total shock that golf YouTube is on LeBron's radar. He recently launched his own YouTube golf channel, and he's reportedly lining up collabs with some of the biggest creators in the space. That's the world Barstool's Internet Invitational lives in. The prize pool jumped from $1 million last year to $4 million this year, and it was filmed at Big Cedar Lodge in Ridgedale, Missouri. The field was never officially announced, so there's been a lot of speculation about whether LeBron ends up involved, but neither Barstool nor Bob Does Sports has said he is.

So how does LeBron know Fasoli? The easy answer is the golf cart. Fasoli driving a cart through a fence is one of the most-shared moments in Barstool golf content, and Barstool's own blog on the LeBron news points straight back to that video. If LeBron watches golf YouTube, he's almost certainly seen it.

Fasoli took it about as calmly as you'd expect, meaning not calmly at all. Within an hour the office was mocking him for his brand-new NBA allegiance, and there's footage of him in his chair, phone in hand, pleading his case to someone off camera.

Rick has a point, sort of. LeBron shouting out any Barstool guy is funny all by itself, since Dave Portnoy has been dunking on LeBron's legacy for years. Of all the people at the company, a golf-cart crash is apparently what got through to the King. By the end of the afternoon the main account had already moved on to asking for the obvious next step.

That's the thing to watch. LeBron has a golf channel, creators he's working with are in the Invitational, and apparently he's a Fasoli guy now. There's still no official word that LeBron will play, so Fasoli driving his cart is just a Barstool wish for now. But if it ever happens, somebody better check the fences on that course first.
