Nick Sirianni's job in question as Eagles lose 6 straight

TLDR: The Eagles blew a 10-0 lead and lost 27-10 to the Commanders for their 6th straight loss, and Nick Sirianni is now coaching for his job at 2-6.
Sunday night in Landover started fine. Then the Eagles stopped scoring, Washington scored 27 in a row, and a team that won it all not long ago went to bed on a 6-game skid.
It fell apart every way it could. Tanner McKee got sacked 5 times and turned it over twice. Saquon Barkley ran for 30 yards on 13 carries against a Washington defense that just stacked the box and dared McKee to beat it. Even the kicking game got in on it: an illegal formation call on Jordan Mailata wiped out a Jake Elliott field goal, and Elliott missed the next try. The skid is now the longest the franchise has had since 2012, and anyone in Philly knows how 2012 ended.
McKee is 0-3 since he took over for Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season with blood clots. The offense has scored 14, 21 and 10 in those games. That's no way to stay in a playoff race, and with the Hurts news nobody is walking through that door to fix it.
By Monday morning Sirianni was putting it on himself, and he wasn't hiding behind his assistants or his backup quarterback.

Owning it is the right thing to say. What he did Monday afternoon is the part people will argue about. Asked if he'd make any coaching changes, especially on offense, Sirianni shut it down right away. He told reporters McKee is staying the starter too, with a flat 'Tanner is our guy.' So it's the same staff, same quarterback and same plan, coming off a game where the Eagles didn't score after the first quarter.

“I’m not making any changes there.” — #Eagles HC Nick Sirianni on if he plans on making any coaching changes, particularly on the offensive side of the ball
That's what makes it a job-security story and not just a bad week. Jeff McLane's column Monday laid the stakes out bluntly: Jeffrey Lurie has been through lost seasons like this before, and every one of them ended with him firing his coach.

“Nick Sirianni … has nine games left to salvage this season and save it from becoming a referendum on his ability to lead the #Eagles out of their doldrums. Jeffrey Lurie may not want to live through a repeat of 2012, 2015, or 2020. But each lost season resulted in him firing his coach, and if he’s being honest with himself, a rebirth.” More ⬇️
That's Andy Reid in 2012, Chip Kelly in 2015 and Doug Pederson in 2020, the last one only 3 years after a Super Bowl parade. Sirianni has a ring too, and history says that won't save him. There are 9 games left. The next one is the Giants before the bye, with McKee at quarterback and the staff untouched, because Sirianni has bet his job on the guys he already has. If the Eagles lose that one going into the off week, the conversation in Philly shifts from whether Lurie makes a change to when.
