Jon Gruden goes all in on Commanders vs. Eagles

TLDR: Jon Gruden backed Washington over Philadelphia on Sunday Night Football with a +600 DraftKings parlay that needed Jayden Daniels to throw for 200 yards, and BarstoolNate's night swung from fire Dan Quinn to Jayden rocks.

This was the Gut Check, Gruden's sponsored DraftKings segment, and Coach did not play it safe for a division rematch in prime time.

GRUDEN'S GUT CHECK FOR SNF I am ALL IN on the Commanders tonight! @DKSports #DKPartner

The card was a paid #DKPartner promo, so take it for what it is. Here are the legs exactly as they appeared: Commanders to win vs. the Eagles, 200+ Jayden Daniels passing yards, 30+ Antonio Williams receiving yards, 30+ Stefon Diggs receiving yards and over 13.5 Rachaad White receiving yards, all at +600, with $10 paying $70. Everything rides on Washington winning, and the 200-yard leg is the big ask. Going into the night, Daniels had 759 passing yards through Week 7 while Marcus Mariota had thrown 5 touchdowns in his place. Philly had also already escaped the season opener 24-22, so this was Washington's shot at getting even inside the division.

Then the game started and Washington fell behind 10-0 to a Saquon Barkley touchdown and a Jake Elliott field goal. Daniels opened 4-of-11 for 26 yards, according to Yahoo's live blog. Commanders fan BarstoolNate had spent the afternoon calling for a monster Jayden line and the division race being back on. Within about half an hour of kickoff he had flipped completely.

Fire Dan Quinn right now I swear to fucking god this is too much

Nate followed it with a rundown of penalties, drops, missed kicks, wasted timeouts and Quinn's backwards hat. That hat has been a sore spot for weeks now, and not just in Washington. On VSiN's Beating the Book in mid-October, one host admitted he'd gone after Quinn for wearing his hat backwards on the sideline, then turned around and picked the Commanders anyway.

“I'm an okay boomer on this one, but I'm going to go where the stink is, and that is with the Washington Commanders.”

For the first half at least, the stink paid off. Washington scored 13 unanswered points to lead 13-10 at halftime. Daniels found his legs, then his accuracy, and hit Stefon Diggs for an 8-yard touchdown on an 89-yard drive where he went 5-of-6. That was good news for Gruden's Diggs leg, and Nate swung right back.

Just a wonderful drive that makes you enjoy football again. Jayden rocks. If this team could play at this level consistently mannnnnnnnn

That last line sums up being a Commanders fan in 2026. Nate's sign-off was "if this team could play at this level consistently," and the first 2 quarters were basically both Washingtons in one game. A 10-0 hole, then a 13-0 run. For Gruden's ticket, that halftime lead was only the start. Washington still had to finish against Philadelphia, and Daniels still had to get to 200 through the air after a 26-yard opening stretch. If they do both, Coach cashes at 6-to-1 and the NFC East race really is back on, just like Nate said before kickoff.
