Stu Feiner debuts Black Stu on Sports Advisors Week 8
TLDR: Stu Feiner showed up to Week 8 of Barstool Sports Advisors in a brand-new all-black look he called Black Stu, and Big Cat answered by calling him a Living Legend on a season-long heater.
The Source teased it before the cameras even rolled, with a warning that nobody watching was prepared for what came next.
The show's own account sold it the same way. It billed Week 8 as a must-watch built around the debut of a new look for Stu, and posted the plug an hour before the episode dropped Friday evening. Fans tuning into a gambling show for the outfit is a strange sentence. Somehow it is also completely normal for a Stu Feiner show.
Once the episode was live, Stu posted his own walk-through of the new look. He's not subtle about it, and the best part of the clip is the reaction behind the desk.
If you're new here: Feiner has been handicapping sports since 1981 and picked up the nickname The Source early on. He first broke through at Barstool on Pardon My Take in 2017, his volume and energy kept him coming back, and he now sits at the Sports Advisors desk with Dave Portnoy, Big Cat and Jersey Jerry. He's at his best as the guy in the room nobody can handle, and an all-black outfit he gave its own name is about as Stu as it gets.
Big Cat, who has spent years as Stu's main straight man, didn't make fun of the look this time. He went full tribute instead.
Stu has been on an absolute heater this season. I don’t think he’ll ever understand how much joy and laughter he gives me. Living Legend
Big Cat's "heater" mostly means Stu as an entertainer, but the picks are always part of the act. Back on the Week 5 episode on October 9, Stu admitted he'd gone 1-2 over his last 3 and then pivoted straight into a sales pitch for a $69 package for Barstool fans: 3-team parlay, three 2-team parlays and 3 straight bets.
“I'm coming this week with a three-team parlay of the year.” – Stu Feiner
That's the whole Stu Feiner experience: a bad stretch, an even bigger promise, then a brand-new outfit 3 weeks later. Now the question for Week 9 is whether Black Stu becomes a permanent thing or was a 1-week costume. Based on how much Big Cat laughed, the desk is hoping for permanent.
