The Texas Tech quarterback saga has an exit ramp, and Brendan Sorsby is reportedly taking it. Instead of suiting up in Lubbock under whatever cloud was forming around the program, he's punting to the NFL Supplemental Draft — a route so rarely used that half the league probably had to Google the rules.

The Supplemental Draft is where college guys go when their eligibility or situation blows up after the regular draft has come and gone. Teams bid draft picks for next year to grab a player now. It's a weird, dusty mechanism, and the fact that Sorsby is even floating his name into it tells you the Texas Tech situation got ugly enough that bailing on a Power 4 starting job looked like the cleaner play.

So the juice finally wasn’t worth the squeeze, huh?
And here's the funny part — Texas Tech might be totally fine. BFW's take is that the QB already on the roster can hold the bag just as well, the Red Raiders are still loaded enough to run through the Big 12, and the whole Sorsby flirtation was a risk that didn't need to be taken in the first place. Hard to argue when your floor is 11 wins.

Funniest thing about the whole Texas Tech/Sorsby thing is the guy they’ve got can probably be just as good as Sorsby and they’re still gonna win 11 games and the Big 12. That’s why I thought it was crazy that they were even considering playing Sorsby.
Meanwhile the internet is already doing internet things. Within hours of the news breaking, the universe was throwing omens — a guy on a walk spotting a Jets shirt rolling by right as the headline dropped. Sorsby to Gang Green is obviously a meme at this stage, but with the Jets' quarterback room being what it is, you can see why the brain goes there.

Saw this news on a walk and then a guy rode by in a jets shirt Signs say Sorsby Jet
Bottom line: Sorsby gets a fresh start, Texas Tech gets its drama cleared off the table before fall camp, and the rest of us get a month of Supplemental Draft tape breakdowns we never asked for. The juice, as Kayce put it, finally wasn't worth the squeeze.
