Tyreek Hill's Comeback Clock Just Got a Lot Murkier

Tyreek Hill says he still has zero power in his surgically repaired left leg, and doctors are already pointing to nerve damage as the reason.

Tyreek Hill hasn't played a snap since he dislocated his knee and tore multiple ligaments in Week 4 last season against the Jets, and 10 months later he's still telling people the leg just doesn't work right. Adam Schefter relayed the update Wednesday: Hill says he has "no power" in that left leg, full stop.

Adam Schefter passed along Hill's blunt admission about his surgically repaired leg.

Hill didn't just drop that line in passing. He put it in his own words in a rehab video, explaining exactly where he's at in the process.

Hill, in his own words, breaks down where his recovery actually stands 10 months out.

"So it's about 10 months after doing two surgeries," Hill said. "I have no power in my left leg, so I'm trying to regain all the power back in my left leg. But it's one day at a time." Two surgeries is the part that jumps out — this wasn't a clean ACL tear and rehab, it was a dislocated knee with multiple ligaments involved, the kind of injury that at one point had Hill being told he might not walk again.

That's exactly why Dr. David Chao's reaction matters here. Chao, who writes as ProFootballDoc and has been tracking this injury since it happened, said Hill's "no power" description lines up with what he and others have suspected for a while: possible nerve damage, not just muscle atrophy from time off.

Dr. David Chao flagged what Hill's own description of the leg could actually mean.

#TyreekHill now says he has "no power" in his leg. Unfortunately fits what we have been saying and likely nerv damage.

Nerve damage is a different animal than a standard knee rehab. Strength you can rebuild with reps and time. A nerve that isn't firing the way it should is a much murkier timeline, and it's the kind of detail that can turn "he'll be ready for training camp" into "he might not play at all in 2026."

The Dolphins cut Hill loose earlier this year rather than absorb a $51 million cap hit and guaranteed money that would've kicked in this season, and his agent Drew Rosenhaus has maintained Hill wants to sign with a contender once he's medically cleared. Problem is, nobody's clearing anybody with a leg that still has no power in it, and every version of this update pushes that signing further out.

Fans reacting to the news weren't exactly optimistic about the timeline either.

Fantasy football reaction summed up the growing worry that Hill's return is much further out than expected.

For a guy who built his entire game on top-end speed, "no power in the leg" is about as scary a phrase as exists. Until that changes, Hill stays a free agent with no team, no timeline, and a growing pile of doctors saying this recovery is more complicated than anyone hoped.
