Giants put Tyrone Tracy Jr. on IR with hamstring injury

TLDR: Giants GM Joe Schoen says Tyrone Tracy Jr. is headed to injured reserve with a hamstring injury that will cost him 4 games, and New York is signing Greg Desrosiers off the Chargers practice squad.
Schoen broke the news at his bye-week press conference on Tuesday, and he made sure to add that it isn't a long-term problem.

#Giants GM Joe Schoen tells reporters during his bye-week press conference RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. is being placed on IR with a hamstring injury suffered Sunday in the win over the #Texans. Not a long-term injury but he’s down four games.
Tracy got hurt in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's 27-21 overtime win in Houston and didn't come back. That win moved the Giants to 4-2-1 going into the Week 8 bye. Getting a road W in overtime and still losing a running back for a month is a very Giants way to head into a week off.
The bigger scare came in overtime. Cam Skattebo broke a 42-yard run, felt something in his hamstring and slid down instead of risking getting caught from behind. Devin Singletary came in for him and ran it in from 30 yards on the very next play to end it. Reports since then say Skattebo should be OK and won't need an MRI, and the bye gives him time to heal without missing a game.
Still, when your RB1 is nursing a hamstring and your RB2 is on IR, you go find another body. That's where Desrosiers comes in.
Don't overthink the Desrosiers signing. He's insurance off a practice squad, not a guy who takes over the backfield. Behind Skattebo, Singletary just scored the walk-off touchdown and looks like the obvious pick to take most of Tracy's snaps. Desrosiers mostly makes sure the room has enough healthy legs in case Skattebo's tweak turns into more than a tweak.
Next up is the Eagles on November 8 after the bye. What matters in Philly is whether Skattebo is truly full speed. If he is, the Giants can survive the month without Tracy. If that hamstring flares up, a team that just took control of the NFC East heading into the break is down to Singletary and a guy who was on the Chargers' practice squad a week ago.
