Roaches, rats, and snakes

The cast drew buffs at random and landed on 3 tribes of 6. The Roach tribe got John Feitelberg, Tommy Smokes, Ella Greifenstein, Pat Kelly, Brandon Walker, and Dante. The Rat tribe drew Tate, Nicky Smokes, Dani Jackel, Hannah Montoya, Nick Turani, and Dana Beers. The Snake tribe rounded out with Rone, Meek Phill, Glenny Balls, Marty Mush, and Michael Katic.

Alliances were already forming in the introductions. Rone revealed that Tommy Smokes was his secret main alliance but added he would need to strike first. Tate made clear he wanted to bend every rule he could find. Pat Kelly disclosed he was hiding a torn ACL beneath a secret brace, determined to appear fully able-bodied.

I couldn’t believe this happened. Challenge one and I thought they were gonna have to like restructure the whole show

The first immunity challenge, called "Mind Your Step," required each player to decode a map, sprint through the office to retrieve personalized stair pieces, then build a staircase and solve a puzzle. The Rat tribe jumped to an early lead after Nick Turani and Tate raced through their legs — Tate bending the rules by using an elevator. Then Nicky Smokes stepped up and could not locate his pieces despite working in the office for 3 years, wandering the building yelling while his tribe watched the lead evaporate.

Dana Beers struggled with the map almost as badly, and Michael Katic stalled the Snake tribe by failing to find his stair pieces in a bathroom stall. By the time every tribe had their pieces, the Rat tribe had fallen from first to last. The Snake tribe finished collecting steps first and began building, but the Roach tribe overtook them on the staircase and reached the puzzle bag with a big lead.

Yep, just the dumb, fat, oblivious fucking oaf🤣

The Roach tribe got to the puzzle first, but the Rat tribe caught up in a hurry. Nick Turani took control of the puzzle table, and his teammates backed off to let him work. The 2 tribes were separated by inches when Turani locked in the final piece and called for a check. The Rat tribe won immunity and the right to pick their sleeping quarters, completing a comeback from dead last.

The Roach tribe finished second, leaving the Snake tribe in last. But the celebration curdled into controversy when both losing tribes discovered a puzzle piece that did not seem to fit its slot — players argued the piece was defective and that the result should not stand. With 2 tribes now facing tribal council, the scrambling to avoid elimination began immediately.

Who went home

  • Ella GreifensteinVoted out 4-2

Repeated what Tommy told her in confidence to the rest of the tribe, hours after her pregame alliance had already been announced out loud on a podcast.

  • Mike KaticVoted out 5-1

That same podcast alliance, one tribe over. The four New York players voted together and took the name in front of them, and Katic went home without unpacking.

Every ballot, and where the idols are

This is the hour it happened in. The season’s record — every elimination in order, who wrote whose name at each council, which of those ballots are confirmed on camera and which are deduced from the count, and who is holding a hidden immunity idol — is on the season 5 elimination tracker, with all ten release dates. The eighteen players and what each one walks in with are on the cast breakdown.
