Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana, Alabama and Texas all lose

TLDR: No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 5 Indiana, No. 6 Alabama and No. 7 Texas all lost Saturday, the first time ever 5 AP top-7 teams fell on the same day.
No. 3 Miami was the only one of the top 3 to get out alive, and it took 2 overtimes against Florida State to do it.
Five top-7 teams lost today for the first time EVER No. 1 Georgia No. 2 Notre Dame No. 5 Indiana No. 6 Alabama No. 7 Texas And No. 3 Miami won in 2OT
The damage started early and kept coming all day. Georgia lost to unranked Auburn 27-24 on a field goal on the final play. Texas lost 27-24 at home to unranked Florida. Alabama went to Knoxville and got handled 26-10 by No. 14 Tennessee. Indiana, the defending national champ, finally lost, 19-15 to No. 4 Ohio State. That ended a 22-game winning streak, and Nick Marsh's go-ahead touchdown got overturned because he couldn't get both feet down. Georgia, Alabama and Texas hadn't all lost on the same Saturday since October 1996.
The last domino fell in Provo. No. 8 BYU took down No. 2 Notre Dame 28-24. Bear Bachmeier threw the go-ahead touchdown to Walker Lyons with 1:47 left, his 4th touchdown of the night after 2 rushing scores and 1 receiving. Then the defense held CJ Carr and the Irish on the last play of the game. BYU is 6-0, and that's a huge résumé win for the Big 12.
No. 8 BYU will beat No. 2 Notre Dame in Provo - a massive win for the Big 12 and the *fifth* top-7 ranked team to lose today - an AP poll record. Six FBS teams remain undefeated Miami BYU Texas Tech UCLA James Madison Utah (still playing)
So that's 6 undefeated FBS teams left, and it's a weird group: Miami, BYU, Texas Tech, UCLA under first-year coach Bob Chesney, James Madison and Utah. Not 1 SEC team. Not 1 Big Ten team. If you had that list in August, you're lying.
No. 3 Miami survives overtime against Florida State. Would have been the third top-7 ranked team to lose to an unranked foe today. In other news, UCLA moves to 6-0 under first-year coach Bob Chesney.
Notre Dame fans will be talking about the last snap for a while. Their final throw to the end zone fell incomplete and there was no flag. Plenty of people watching, including Tim May, thought it looked like pass interference on BYU.
Miami's win was ugly but it counts. The Canes beat Florida State 43-35 in double overtime, and the finish came down to disputed calls on FSU's 4th-down tries in the 2nd overtime. Expect a lot of whining about it in Tallahassee this week. Still, with No. 1 and No. 2 both losing, Miami at No. 1 when the AP poll drops Sunday is about as safe a bet as you'll get. The fun part is everything below them. Does Ohio State jump to No. 2 off the Indiana win? Where do 1-loss Georgia and Notre Dame land? How high can an undefeated BYU go?
Pete Thamel said every season has a day like this, and he's right. Most seasons just don't have it in mid-October with 5 of the top 7 going down at once. The national title race was supposed to have a clear top tier. As of Saturday night, nobody gets to claim they're the favorite with a straight face.
