Big Cat, PFT Commenter ride Tennessee's win over Alabama

TLDR: No. 14 Tennessee beat No. 6 Alabama 26-10 at Neyland, and the Barstool timeline went from Big Cat screaming at a special teams blunder to PFT Commenter posting a victory cigar.

Before a snap mattered, PFT Commenter was already in on the look of the Third Saturday in October: both teams in their home colors.

Uniform matchup in Alabama vs Tennessee is Elite. More games should do home and home jerseys

Then the 2nd quarter nearly flipped the whole thing. Tennessee led 12-7 with about 4 minutes left in the half when a punt went wrong on the Vols' side, and Alabama came out of the pile with the ball near the Tennessee 20. Big Cat did not take it calmly.

That’s just so insanely stupid. What the hell

The clip went up 2 minutes later. You can't tell from the frames exactly what the Tennessee player did wrong, but the result is plain: a Tide player standing over the ball and signaling possession deep in Vols territory, with the officials standing nearby.

This Tennessee special teams member Volunteered himself to make the worst play imaginable

It ended up not mattering. Alabama scored 10 points all day, finished with 201 yards of offense, turned it over 4 times and drew 10 penalties. DeSean Bishop carried 30 times for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns, and the Vols closed it out with a 15-play, 72-yard drive that ate 9:32 of the 4th quarter. That's 2 losses in a row for Alabama, which hadn't happened to the Tide in a single season since 2013. Not every Barstool voice saw it coming. On Friday's Tailgate Power Hour, T-Bob figured Alabama would be hungover after its home loss to Georgia, and still had the Vols' offense as the reason they'd lose.

“This is a Tennessee offense and it's its fatal flaw, and ultimately probably why the Volunteers lose this game.” – T-Bob

The Tennessee offense did just enough, and the defense did the rest. Then it was cigar time. PFT celebrated by posting a Vols fan in a white Tennessee cap and striped polo firing up a torch lighter, which is the tradition after you beat Alabama.

Vols. The sweet sound of victory

Tennessee wasn't even the only upset of the night. Over in Athens, Auburn spotted No. 1 Georgia a 14-0 lead, scored 24 straight, and won 27-24 when Alex McPherson hit a 34-yard field goal as time expired. It was Auburn's first win over Georgia since 2017. Brandon Walker summed it up in one line.

Auburn just beat Georgia. Tennessee just smoked Alabama. Nothing makes sense anymore.

Mintzy immediately went looking for whoever was holding the Auburn and Tennessee moneyline parlay, which would have been a hell of a ticket on a slate where both favorites looked safe on paper.

So the SEC race is a mess. Alabama has lost 2 straight, Georgia just lost at home to its oldest rival, and Tennessee has now beaten the Tide at Neyland 3 times in a row. Expect Big Cat to get over the punt and the cigar guys to keep smoking all week. The real question is whether this Vols team can win ugly like this against the rest of its schedule.
