Telluride Bush signs Aspekt off the open market
TLDR: Telluride Bush Gaming has signed Aspekt, the OMiT player who won a Major IV Open and the Challengers Finals in Black Ops 7, and he was one of the best players left on the open market.
The Bush spent Sunday night teasing it with a bomb emoji. By 9:41 CT it was official, and the welcome post went up.
No more waiting. Welcome home @Aspekttt_ 🌳
"No more waiting" is the right line. Aspekt, who also goes by Killy, spent most of Black Ops 7 with OMiT, one of the few Challengers orgs that has been winning as much as the Bush has. He didn't come cheap in terms of reputation either. He was a free agent, and the org grabbed him before anyone else could.
The résumé backs up the hype. Across Black Ops 7 he won a Major IV Open, the Challengers Finals and 2 EU Challengers Elite titles. That's a full season of hardware at basically every level Challengers has, not one lucky weekend.
Primarily playing Black Ops 7 with @OMiTGG, @tBushGaming lands a big fish on the open market! Killy/Aspekt in BO7: Major IV Open Champion Challengers Finals Champion 2x EU Challengers Elite Champion 1.07 HP KD 1.06 SnD KD 1.03 Overload KD Welcome @Aspekttt_ to the #Unshaven🌳
The numbers hold up too: a 1.07 K/D in Hardpoint, 1.06 in Search and Destroy and 1.03 in Overload, all positive across all 3 modes. Being above water in every mode is exactly what you want from a signing like this. He isn't a 1-mode specialist, so there's no mode you have to hide him in. The stat card itself credits ChallengerStats as the source.
This comes 4 months after things looked shaky for the org. In June, Dave Portnoy said publicly that the Bush "does absolutely nothing in terms of making money" and called it "a cute little content thing," which had people wondering how long Barstool would keep paying for it. Signing one of the best free agents on the market says the Bush is still trying to win. The Barstool side was celebrating right away.
Welcome to the Bush @Aspekttt_
"Time to win" is how the team account summed it up a few minutes later. Next to watch is the rest of the roster: who lines up next to Aspekt, and whether the Bush keeps pulling proven winners off the open market. If they do, the hashtag might finally have a roster to match. #Unshaven
