Do the math on that timeline and it's brutal. Surgery went down July 29, so 13-16 months puts a realistic return somewhere between late 2027 and the start of the 2028 season. In other words, Keller isn't just done for this year — he's probably wiping out all of next year too.

This one stings extra because of how Keller got to Philly in the first place. He reinvented himself as a shutdown reliever with the Cubs in 2025, posting a 2.07 ERA over 69 2/3 innings after previously needing thoracic outlet syndrome surgery back in 2023. That breakout convinced the Phillies to hand him a 2-year, $22 million deal over the winter. Instead, he managed 31 1/3 innings with a 4.02 ERA, 13 holds and 3 saves before forearm tendinitis in late June turned out to be a warning sign for the elbow blowing out around the All-Star break.
