It started as a screen-recorded clip and ended with Brandon Walker basically calling Bussin' With The Boys a couple of coach-hugging suck-ups on live television. The Yak crew got their hands on a clip of Will Compton and Taylor Lewan griping that other shows are ripping off their format, and instead of shrugging it off, the guys decided to air it out in real time.
The Yak crew reacted live to the Bussin' With The Boys clip accusing other podcasts of copying their format.
The beef has extra juice because of the history here. Compton and Lewan built Bussin' With The Boys at Barstool before bolting for a massive outside deal that eventually landed with FanDuel, with Compton later saying they'd have taken a hometown discount to stay but Dave Portnoy couldn't get within 40% of the offer on the table. So when the guys who left are now popping off about copycats, it's not landing great with the guys still in the building.
That's exactly the frame Brandon Walker went with. "The bussin with the boys guys are accusing me of copying somebody?!" he said, with Big Cat chiming in "Unbelievable." Walker didn't stop there, either, going after the entire premise of their show in the same breath.
BFW fired back at Bussin' With The Boys directly on The Yak, with Big Cat backing him up.
"I'm just gonna say interesting things and not suck everybody's dick like those guys do," Walker said. "They've made an entire career out of dapping and taking pictures with coaches." That's about as direct a shot as you'll hear between two shows that used to share a roof, and it's the kind of line that turns a passing accusation into an actual feud.
Podcast copycat discourse isn't new — everybody in the space eventually gets accused of borrowing a format, a set design, a bit. But this one has teeth because it's not strangers sniping online, it's former co-workers with a real breakup in the rearview and a competing paycheck now on the line. Expect this to keep bubbling until one side, or both, brings it up again.
