Camp Barstool's Day 2 turns into a Mountain Dew water war

Camp Barstool runs Aug. 18-22 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, presented by Mountain Dew, and it's built around exactly this kind of chaos: livestreamed camp games that start structured and end in the lake. Day 1 was softball. Day 2 was billed as Water Games, and the staffers took that mandate seriously.

The centerpiece was the Blob Flop, a giant inflatable launching pad in the middle of the lake that Team Dirty Dew treated as their personal arena. Scoreboards flashed times and scores to beat as staffers took turns getting flung off the thing, and it escalated fast -- multiple posts showed the same green blob sending people cartwheeling into the water, with one contestant getting flipped face-down after Chef Donny joked his head broke the fall.

By the afternoon someone actually pulled off what got billed as a first: a triple jump on the blob, three people stacking a launch in a single go. It's the kind of stunt that only makes sense in the context of a multi-day camp where the whole point is one-upping the group chat.

Not every bit needed water pyrotechnics. One of the day's funniest running gags was Ranger Don, paddled out into the middle of the lake and left there in a Michigan State jersey with nothing but a phone and a paddleboard -- the kind of low-effort, high-comedy bit that camp thrives on precisely because nobody's trying too hard.

Once the sun went down the day flipped from chaos to genuinely wholesome. Them Coulee Boys showed up for a surprise campfire set, arranged as a favor for the crew, and staffers were still talking about the vibe hours later. Fireworks went off over the lake to cap the night, and even the people who spent the afternoon getting launched off a blob were sitting by a fire with a cold Mountain Dew in hand by the time it ended.
