The Dog Walk Snake Drafts The Worst Coaches Ever

The Dog Walk's new snake draft turns into a worst-coaches-of-all-time roast, with Hue Jackson going No.

Snake drafts are The Dog Walk's love language at this point, and the latest one might be the meanest concept yet: drafting the worst head coaches of all time. Eddie, TBob and Conner Knapp running the board on coaching disasters is exactly the kind of bit that writes itself, because the bench is deep. Painfully, hilariously deep.

Big T didn't overthink the 1.1. Hue Jackson is the layup pick for any worst-coaches conversation — the Browns tenure alone (a 3-36-1 run that bottomed out at 0-16) basically retires the number. Taking him first overall isn't a hot take, it's just respecting the format. You don't get cute with the top pick when a guy went winless over a full NFL season.

Then Round 2 happened and WhitesoxDave decided to make it weird. With pick 2.4, Dave grabbed Pedro Grifol — the fired ex-White Sox skipper who oversaw a historically bad 2024 season on the South Side — and proceeded to defend the reach with what can only be described as White Sox Dave math. Eddie was hyping it as 'all time math,' which is the polite way of saying the logic did not connect for anyone in the room.

The follow-up Dog Walk kept the meta going, with Eddie casually telling Danny Conrad on-mic that a previous video was 'the video I didn't like,' which is exactly the kind of low-stakes studio jab that the show runs on. Danny's 'Why?' got the desk laughing and basically functioned as a bonus round on the week's content.

The bigger thing here is that The Dog Walk has found its lane. Snake drafts where the entire category is bad — bad coaches, bad managers, bad anything — let everyone at the desk lean into their guy, defend the indefensible, and argue about whether Hue Jackson really deserved to go ahead of whoever's coming off the board in Round 3. That's the show. More of this, please.
