Canzone ends the Dodgers nightmare in Chavez Ravine

Mariners-Dodgers games at Chavez Ravine have not been kind to Seattle for a long time. Going in, LA had won 12 straight over the Mariners dating back to 2021, the kind of streak that makes a road trip to Los Angeles feel less like a series and more like a formality. Dominic Canzone decided formality was off the table.

That first homer came in the 6th off Dodgers lefty Justin Wrobleski, a 433-foot no-doubter that erased a Dodger lead and evened the score at 5-5. Games like this one had a way of tilting back toward LA late, given the recent history. Not this time.

Two innings later, Canzone did it again, this time off a different lefty, launching a 414-foot shot to center that Statcast clocked at 107.5 mph off the bat. It was his 2nd homer off a left-hander in the same game, something he'd never done before in his career, and it put Seattle ahead for good.

CANZONE AGAIN

Seattle held on for a 7-6 win, and Canzone wasn't the only Mariner going deep. Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez and Rob Refsnyder also homered, giving the club a season-high 5 home runs on the night. But it was Canzone's 2-homer performance, his team-leading 18th of the season on the second blast, that carried the headline and finally put an end to that miserable stretch against the Dodgers.

For a guy who's spent his career as more of a role player than a slugger, a multi-homer night against the defending juggernaut Dodgers is a signature moment. It's the kind of game that gets clipped and replayed, and Barstool's baseball account made sure to capture the moment as it happened live.
