Kyle Manzardo and Rhys Hoskins have both been underwater offensively at first base and DH this season, and Lowe gives the lineup a legitimate right-handed threat to pair with Jo Adell, who the Guardians also picked up earlier in the week from the Angels. The cost was modest — Cleveland is sending back Alejandro Rivera, a 19-year-old right-hander who ranks 30th in their system and has spent this season in rookie ball and Low-A. That's a low price to pay for a hitter performing like Lowe is right now.
