Robert was reinstated from the 60-day injured list this past Monday after missing roughly two and a half months with disc inflammation in his back, which leaves him about two weeks to prove he's actually fine before the Aug. 3 cutoff. His numbers since returning haven't done him any favors either — he's slashing.211/.306/.337 with 3 homers in 108 plate appearances on the year, a far cry from the power-speed upside that made him a five-tool name in Chicago.

Money-wise, this is a cheap swing for a buyer. Robert is owed just $5.9 million for the rest of 2026, and whoever trades for him also inherits a $20 million club option for 2027 with a modest $2 million buyout — low risk if the bat comes back, easy to walk away from if it doesn't. That structure is exactly why teams looking for right-handed pop and center-field defense, reportedly including the Phillies, are willing to kick the tires even on a guy hitting under.220.
